CAPITOL’ RESULT FOR DIBDALE ROAD SCHEME - 10th November 2006

The launch of a contemporary development aimed at first time buyers was a 'Capitol' success for developers Selbourne Homes, who sold eight of the forty nine properties being built in just one day.

Held at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill, the launch of Selbourne's Capitol Hill scheme in Dibdale Road, near Dudley, attracted over 150 people who had either previously registered their interest via the firm's website or who had contacted Selbourne directly.

Home to 30 one and two-bedroom apartments and 19 two and three-bedroom houses, Capitol Hill will mirror Selbourne’s successful SO.GO and Storm developments at Merry Hill. Prices range from £100,000 for a two-bedroom apartment, to £194,000 for a three-bedroom home and the majority of those attending the launch event were first time buyers, lured by the scheme's prime location and its value for money.

Gavin Warr, managing director of Selbourne Homes, said: "This is the first time we've launched a scheme in this way and the response has been outstanding, with seven apartments and one town house being snapped up in a matter of hours.

"Homebuyers have been quick to recognise the potential of this site and they like the fact that it offers contemporary urban chic at an affordable price. We’re receiving enquiries daily from prospective purchasers and we’re confident it won’t be long before we’re fully sold."

Occupying a commanding hilltop position with panoramic views towards the Malvern Hills and Clee Hill, Capitol Hill is the last remaining brownfield site in the Milking Bank area, which is now an established residential location offering desirable new homes.

FULL STEAM AHEAD AS SELBOURNE HOMES PURCHASES DEVELOPMENT SITE IN CRADLEY HEATH - 19th October 2006

A derelict site in Cradley Heath is set to receive a 21st century makeover if plans by award-winning contemporary developer Selbourne Homes get the green light.

The Hagley-based firm has spent £925,000 on a 1.3 acre plot with outline planning consent for residential development on Lower High Street.

Formerly home to AS Rolling Mills, the site is located opposite Cradley Heath train station and Selbourne will shortly be submitting a detailed planning application to transform it into 36 stylish one and two bedroom apartments.

"As soon as we saw this site we recognised its potential," said Gavin Warr, managing director of Selbourne Homes.

"Its proximity to the train station makes it an ideal location for Birmingham commuters looking for city-living without the hefty price tag and it’s well positioned to take advantage of the numerous retail and leisure facilities on its doorstep."

Designed with first-time buyers in mind, Selbourne’s architects have worked hard to create a truly individual scheme that will appeal to the community and reflect the landmark status of the site.

Prices are expected to range from £95,000 to £125,000 and the scheme will feature some of the latest trends in terms of interior design.

SELBOURNE HOMES CALLS TIME ON THE GLADSTONE ARMS - 9th October 2006

Award-winning contemporary developer Selbourne Homes is set to transform the derelict site of a 1950s' style public house in Audnam, Stourbridge, into eight luxury homes.

The company has purchased the former Gladstone Arms on High Street and work on site is scheduled to start later this month, with the first properties being ready for occupation early in the new year. Called 'Equator,' because the scheme is halfway between Amblecote and Wordsley - the two areas which Selbourne currently regards as its operating universe - the development will comprise eight three-bedroom, three-storey town houses.

"We're very excited about this scheme and we think it will really enhance the area," said Gavin Warr, managing director of Selbourne Homes. "We've opted for a mix of traditional exteriors and contemporary interiors and we're confident it won't be long before all eight properties are sold."

Designed to appeal primarily to young families, the scheme will be elevated from the road, with the emphasis firmly on cutting-edge design that is both stylish and practical.

All properties will have ensuite facilities, together with gardens and individual car ports which will be located at the rear of the development in a secure courtyard area. Prices will start from £180,000.

GRAVITY PROVES MAJOR DRAW FOR FIRST TIME BUYERS - 11th September 2006

Selbourne Homes' latest contemporary development in Oldbury (Sandwell) is 50 per cent sold, primarily to first time buyers lured by its affordability and cutting-edge style.

Called Gravity, the scheme comprises 10 one-bedroom apartments, six two-bedroom apartments and 10 two-bedroom terraced homes.

With properties ranging in price from £80,000 to £130,000, value for money is definitely the name of the game and according to Selbourne's managing director Gavin Warr, affordable property shouldn't mean having to compromise on quality and style.

"Attitudes to property have changed in recent years and first time buyers are no longer content to settle for run down one-bedroom properties that need lots of care and attention. Our aim is to offer prospective purchasers aspirational homes within their budgets and sales figures for all our sites, including Gravity, prove we're achieving this."

Built on a brownfield site, Gravity also fits with Selbourne's philosophy of regenerating the Black Country by transforming disused land and derelict eyesores into much needed desirable homes.

"We believe the Black Country has a bright future, but in order to achieve this, we need young people to recognise the benefits it offers and the reasons why they should choose to live and work here," added Mr Warr.

"Housing has a crucial role to play in this process and we want to make sure there is something for everyone."

It was a view shared by Labour MP for Warley, John Spellar, on a recent visit to Gravity.

"The Black Country has huge potential and it's an area set for significant change," said Mr Spellar. "Major plans are underway to transform the region and housing schemes like Gravity are a natural fit within these, enhancing the desirability of the local area and encouraging our young people to build their lives there."

Gravity's showhome is open from 11am to 6pm every day except Tuesday and Wednesday and all properties boast a high specification including integrated stainless steel kitchen appliances and contemporary décor.

KINVER STREET SET FOR STYLISH MAKEOVER - 31st July 2006

A Wordsley eyesore could be in line for a stylish makeover if plans submitted by Selbourne Homes are given the green light.

The award winning property developer has applied for permission to build 10 three-bedroom family homes and 13 luxury apartments on a 1.1 acre site on Kinver Street, on the Brierley Hill Road/High Street junction.

Formerly home to local council offices, a car park and a row of derelict shops, the site is a prime candidate for redevelopment and Selbourne is confident its plans will appeal to homebuyers and council officials alike.

"We've invested a lot of time in designing a scheme that not only fits in with the surrounding environment, but also enhances it," said Gavin Warr, managing director of Selbourne Homes.

"We specialise in transforming brownfield sites into must-have homes and since 1999, our team has built five developments within walking distance of this site. It's been great to play such a significant role in Wordsley's regeneration and we see Kinver Street as the next piece of the jigsaw."

Accessed via Meadowhall Drive, Selbourne's proposed scheme is aimed at young families and first time buyers.

Despite its traditional exterior, the development has been designed to offer the latest in contemporary urban living and potential purchasers will be able to benefit from the site's close proximity to amenities such as restaurants, bars and shops. Selbourne also intends to make a feature of Wordsley Brook which runs through the site.

As well as its plans for Kinver Street, Selbourne Homes is behind many successful projects across the Black Country.

Selbourne's The Edge in Wordsley sold in record time and Evolution, a stylish development of 27 two-bedroom apartments in Amblecote, has virtually sold out.

Most recently, Selbourne purchased the site of the former Gladstone Arms in Audnam which it plans to transform into eight three-bedroom homes.

GRAVITY OPENS DOORS ON NEW SHOWHOME - 9th May 2006

Selbourne Homes will open the doors this Saturday (May 13th) on a brand new showhome at its Gravity development in Bristnall Road, Oldbury.

The two bedroom house has been professionally kitted out in contemporary style by Birmingham-based Connections in Design, and promises to reveal the full potential of Selbourne's city-style living concept in this popular and convenient location.

The eagerly awaited showhome follows huge initial interest in the development, which is keenly priced to appeal to first time buyers. Nine of the homes have already sold off plan, with seven of these going in one weekend at a sales event held at Selbourne's Shiraz development in Sutton Coldfield.

Gravity comprises 16 one and two-bedroom apartments and ten two-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses. The one bedroom apartments include a bathroom, open plan living and dining area, whilst the two bedroom terraces include a living room, separate fitted kitchen, downstairs cloakroom and bathroom.

The homes boast a high specification including integrated stainless steel kitchen appliances, contemporary décor and reassuring safety and security features

Prices start at just £80,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, rising to £127,000 and above for the two-bedroom houses.

The showhome is open from 11am to 6pm every day except Tuesday and Wednesday.

STUNNING NEW HOMES TAKE SHAPE IN WALL HEATH - 5th May 2006

Construction has started at Parador, Selbourne Homes' eagerly-awaited new development of detached family homes on Kidderminster Road, Wall Heath.

The scheme, the latest from the award-winning Hagley-based developer, comprises just five four-bedroom detached homes, each featuring a luxury specification which includes ultra-sophisticated stainless steel kitchen appliances, top quality Spanish tiles in the bathrooms and en-suites, and attractive block-paved driveways.

Initial enquiries have convinced Selbourne's managing director Gavin Warr of the development's popularity.

"There's been loads of interest via our website and over the phone already," he says. "It's not surprising as the development is in a superb location for commuting and with local amenities close by."

Prices are expected to start at around £290,000 when the first properties are complete this summer.

"That's a great price for such a high specification," Mr Warr adds. "We're confident it will appeal to families looking for quality at a realistic cost."

NATURAL SELECTION PREVAILS AT EVOLUTION - 4th April 2006

Eleven luxury two-bedroom apartments have already been snapped up at Selbourne Homes’ new Evolution development on Amblecote High Street, Stourbridge. The scheme, comprising 27 two-bedroom apartments in three designs, offers contemporary city-style living from just £113,000 in a landscaped development with parking at the rear.

The sales figures have delighted Selbourne’s managing director Gavin Warr, with sales being achieved well before the showhome opens at the end of April. “It’s a great result, and proof that there’s a huge market out there for chic, contemporary design at an affordable price,” he said.

“Once the showhome opens we’re expecting even more interest in the development. It’s a great-looking building in a superb location and will make a stylish addition to the surrounding area.” The apartments all feature en-suite shower rooms, separate bathrooms and fitted kitchens, with balconies to the upper floor units.

Selbourne has also started work on the adjacent York House, which it is converting into high quality retail, office and workshop premises.

LAST CHANCE FOR LUXURY LIVING AT ZINC ZN - 24th March 2006

Only two luxury homes remain available at Zinc zn, Selbourne Homes' select development of contemporary four and five bedroom properties in Gornal, Dudley.

The scheme in Cooper's Bank Road transformed the site of a former steel stockholders' yard into an exclusive development of five stunning new detached homes with a contemporary twist.

Demand for the homes has been such that just two plots - a four bedroom home for £365,000 and a five bedroom property for £330,000 - remain available.

Each home features a double garage and sizeable garden, along with lavish interiors including fitted kitchens with stainless steel appliances, and Twyfords bathrooms.

The success of the conveniently located site, which provides easy access to local shopping facilities and to Dudley town centre, looks set to continue: Selbourne Homes has plans to build three further 4 bedroom detached homes off a separate private drive adjacent to the current development.

ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR SELBOURNE IN WORDSLEY - 16th March 2006

The bulldozers have moved in on a notorious Wordsley eyesore, say Selbourne Homes, the developers planning to build contemporary homes on the site.

Demolition work is starting on the site at Kinver Street, on the Brierley Hill Road/High Street junction, enabling widening of the road and the construction of ten three-bedroom, three-storey houses and thirteen one and two-bedroom apartments later this year.

Legal difficulties prevented the earlier demolition of the run-down shops occupying the land. Selbourne Homes has lodged a planning application for the development and aims to start building the new homes some time in the summer.

"We're delighted work can finally begin on the site, albeit later than originally planned," said Selbourne Homes managing director, Gavin Warr. "Our new development promises to be a stunning and worthwhile addition to the local housing market."

SELBOURNE PLANS SECOND WOMBOURNE DEVELOPMENT - 8th March 2006

Contemporary property developer Selbourne Homes has submitted a planning application for fifteen new waterside homes in Wombourne, following its successful FIVE development two years ago. Selbourne proposes to build nine three-bedroom houses and six one and two-bedroom apartments on land adjacent to the Worcestershire and Staffordshire canal off Waterdale, behind the Wagon & Horses pub.

The homes will feature the modern cutting edge styling that has proved a winner at Selbourne’s many Black Country developments, and helped win awards and commendations for the company’s innovative approach to urban living. “Our first development in Wombourne called FIVE at Ounsdale Road was a great success and we have similar hopes for this new proposed scheme,” said Selbourne’s managing director, Gavin Warr.

“The combination of a tranquil waterside location with the very latest in contemporary design makes for an exciting development and we can’t wait to get started.”

SELBOURNE MOVES ON CAPITOL HILL - 7th March 2006

Demolition work has finished at Dibdale Road, Dudley in readiness for the latest city-living style scheme from contemporary property developer Selbourne Homes. Called Capitol Hill, the 3.3 acre development will be home to 30 one and two-bedroom apartments and 19 two and three-bedroom houses.

The scheme is designed to mirror Selbourne’s successful SO.GO development at Merry Hill, offering contemporary urban style at affordable prices. “This is the last remaining brownfield site in the Milking Bank area and we’re delighted to be able finally to start work on this exciting new development,” said Selbourne’s managing director Gavin Warr.

The name Capitol Hill reflects the fact that the area used to be called London Fields and that the site occupies a commanding hilltop position with panoramic views towards the Malvern Hills and Clee Hill.

“We received a lot of interest in the development when we first lodged plans around two years ago and have already built up a substantial waiting list of potential buyers, so it’s great that the protracted planning and appeals process has now ended,” added Mr Warr. The first completions are due in the summer.

Demolition work has also started Selbourne’s site at Kidderminster Road in Wall Heath, where five four-bedroom family homes will be built; and is due to begin soon at Selbourne Road in Dudley, which will house ten one and two-bedroom apartments and nine three-bedroom town houses.

GRAVITY PULLS HOMEBUYERS IN - 23rd February 2006

Over 25 per cent of available properties at Selbourne Homes’ contemporary Gravity development in Oldbury (Sandwell) have been sold in just one weekend, thanks to an off-plan sales event. The event, held at Selbourne’s established Shiraz development in Sutton Coldfield, was open to visitors who had registered their interest in the Bristnall Road, Oldbury development via a ‘priority list’ on the company’s website.

Of the 26 properties under construction at Gravity, seven were sold during the invitee-only event, including five one-bedroom apartments starting at £80,000 and two two-bedroom houses from £127,000.  Selbourne Homes’ managing director Gavin Warr believes the site’s realistic pricing, along with its stylish contemporary designs, proved an irresistible, great value combination for first time buyers.

“The apartments and houses boast a high specification including integrated stainless steel kitchen appliances, brilliant modern décor and reassuring safety and security features,” he said. “Where else could you find such a stylish and appealing package for only £80,000?”

Gravity comprises 16 one and two-bedroom apartments and ten two-bedroom terraced and semi-detached houses. The one bedroom apartments include a bathroom, bedroom and open plan living and dining area, whilst the two bedroom terraces include a living room, separate fitted kitchen, downstairs cloakroom, two bedrooms and bathroom.

Construction work is well underway and the first completions are due this summer. A showhome is planned to open in April.
